Join BirdLife Bayside for an outing led by Tania Ireton for a two day mid-week outing to Phillip Island, Wonthaggi Heathland Nature Conservation Reserve and the Victorian Desalination Plant.
Tuesday 9am Wonthaggi Heathlands Nature Conservation Reserve & Victorian Desalination Plant: Melway map X912 R 12. Meet at the carpark at the end of Chisholm Road (via Chambers Street and Cameron Street). Note: Google shows Chisholm Road turning 90° to the left and joining Reed Crescent but that is a walking track. Toilets at the Apex Park in Murray Street, which is the road on the right off the Bass Highway/ McKenzie Street/B460 with Aldi and Subway on the corners. The other end of Murray Street turns left and joins up with Cameron Street. After lunch we will be travelling to the Victorian Desalination Plant. Bring folding chair, lunch and afternoon tea.
Wednesday 8.30am Phillip Island: Meet at the carpark at Woolamai Surf Beach (Melway map 734 D 12), at the end of Woolamai Beach Road (left turn at second roundabout on Phillip Island Road). Toilets available. Bring folding chair, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. We will be birding at several locations on Phillip Island.
Please wear suitable clothes and shoes for bushwalking, including a hat and sunscreen. Please note that outings are very rarely cancelled, but will be automatically cancelled on days of a Total Fire Ban or severe weather.
