About the role

We’ve been recording the soundscapes of wetlands across south-western Victoria, south-eastern South Australia and south-western Western Australia. As a result, we have a shedload of audio files that we need to process!

We’re looking for good listeners to help us sort through audio files and produce a list of calling species.

Volunteers can be based anywhere and will be trained in how to use Arbimon to validate audio files.

As a Wetland Listening volunteer, you will:

  • Learn how to use the relevant software
  • Listen to soundscapes
  • Help us to make a list of calling species

Role requirements:

  • A computer
  • Internet connection
  • A good listener
  • Willingness to be trained in using Arbimon

Who the role is suited to:

  • People with the time to listen closely to soundscapes
  • People who are interested in learning how to do the work and are happy to spend some time indoors
  • People who are passionate about birds
  • People with an internet connection, a computer and a way to listen to the soundscapes

Volunteers can be based anywhere!

These audio files will be made available to volunteers via Arbimon, so volunteers don’t need to live anywhere in particular to help out. All you’ll need is a computer, an internet connection and a good ear.
