About the event

Come and join us looking for Wet Tropics birds, and learn how to survey for them. We will undertake bird surveys at a number of sites within the Misty Mountains area over the long weekend.

To join us you will need:

  • to be completely self-sufficient with your own camping, sleeping and cooking gear and food.
  • 4 wheel drive vehicles would be beneficial to access more remote sites.

After dinner on Saturday 30 September, we will provide an update on the Wet Tropics Birds in Wooroonooran National Park Project.

Getting there

Address: South Johnstone Campground, Unnamed Rd, Gulngai, Walter Lever Estate QLD 4856, Australia

We’ll be surveying in Wooroonooran National Park, Misty Mountains area, and camp at South Johnstone camping area. Access via K tree and West Maalan Road is possible by 2WD vehicle with care. It’s about 10–12 km on either road in, from the Palmerston Highway.
