The Regular Giving Coordinator is responsible for maximising the long-term value of BirdLife Australia’s regular giving program. Working closely with the Individual Giving Manager, the role will work to acquire, retain, steward and upgrade regular givers across a range of channels and coordinate membership renewal and communications.
To be successful in this role, you will need experience working on a regular giving program or a similar fundraising campaign at a not-for-profit organisation, and experience executing regular giving acquisition, conversion, reactivation and upgrade campaigns across multiple channels. Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage and support numerous stakeholders to successfully deliver projects that met objectives and deadlines will be highly valued. Position Description
This is an exciting opportunity work with BirdLife Australia’s Black-Cockatoo team. Amongst other duties to support Black-Cockatoo conservation in Australia, the role will coordinate key stakeholders across the country in the recovery of the three Southwest Black Cockatoo species. This role is aligned to BirdLife’s mission, vision and indicators under the Bird Conservation Strategy. Further information on the expectations of the role is set out in the position description.
To be successful in this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in biology or another relevant discipline, and at least five years’ experience working in the field of applied conservation. You will require strong knowledge of species recovery, management of threats and conservation solutions and technical expertise in species conservation. A significant asset for this role would be existing knowledge of our southwest Black-Cockatoos and the specific threats they face, and familiarity with the stakeholders working across southwest Australia to protect these birds.

In this role you will provide advice and support on governance practices to the Board and senior management. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and Corporations Act. Develop and implement governance policies and procedures while monitoring and reporting on governance practices and identifying opportunities for improvements.
Duties include providing advice on a range of legal issues, including contracts, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. Maintaining all appropriate compliance and governance registers (WWCC, Firearms, Test and Tag etc) and coordinating action to mitigate risk.

The Advisor Nature Positive Investment is responsible for developing initiatives that leverage corporate Nature Positive and Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) activities to finance and implement BirdLife Australia priority conservation and research projects. This role focuses on identifying and engaging stakeholders in Nature Positive initiatives. Specifically, the role will work with BirdLife staff to design and promote conservation, research and advisory projects that further the Bird Conservation Strategy (BCS) goals by delivering on Conservation Action Area 8 – Working with the private sector.
About You You will have a degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Economics, Finance, or a related field, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing Nature Positive conservation solutions through strong project management, including budget management and reporting. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills including the ability to represent BirdLife professionally and competently in negotiations with potential industry partners. You will have strong verbal and written communication skills and a high level of computer literacy.

The Mallee Threatened Birds Coordinator plays an important role in helping BirdLife Australia achieve its strategic goal of improving outcomes for Australian birds. The role will manage and support conservation projects to prevent the extinction of threatened Mallee birds.
The objective of this position is to coordinate stakeholders engaged through the Mallee Threatened Birds Committee, and identify key actions, manage projects and engage partners to recover threatened Mallee birds under the objectives of the Mallee Threatened Birds Conservation Action Plan (CAP) and BirdLife Australia’s Bird Conservation Strategy. The position will also include delivering a project aimed at auditing the state of play with Plains-wanderer, establishing a community of practice and coordinating the creation of an updated distribution map for this species.

The role of the Board Secretary is to provide high-level administrative support to BirdLife Australia’s Board and Committee activities and the Annual General Meeting. As the Board and Committees are made up of members volunteering their time to BirdLife, this role plays a significant part in fostering a positive relationship between BirdLife Australia’s Executive Team, staff and the Board and Committee members.
What you need to know This is a part-time position of three days per week (0.6 FTE), working an average of 22.5 hours a week, offered on a 24-month fixed-term contract. However, the distribution of work hours and days will vary during peak periods in line with the annual Board cycle.
Peak periods are quarterly and consist of the week prior to Board and Committee meetings and the week during which meetings occur. During peak periods, the rostered hours may fall between 8.00am and 8.00pm, in accordance with the meeting schedule (see Appendix 1 in the position description). Outside the peak period, workdays will return to three days per week and flexible arrangements can be arranged by mutual agreement with the Senior Manager, Business Planning. How work hours vary within a fortnight will be discussed in advance and approved in the roster system.
The role operates on a salary basis, and the agreed remuneration accounts for the variable nature of hours, including work performed during evenings.

Reporting This role reports to the Senior Manager Business Planning.

The Australasian Bittern is a nationally endangered wetland bird with discrete populations in Australia’s south-east and far south-west. The main objectives of this position are to coordinate and implement priority actions identified in the National Recovery Plan for the Australasian Bittern Botaurus poiciloptilus. The plan sets out the objectives and actions needed to improve the condition and extent of critical habitats and manage the most significant short-term threats to the Bittern to maintain and support recovery of the population.
Working with key stakeholders, including state, local and federal governments, community organisations, natural resource management authorities, researchers and special interest groups and other representatives, this position will coordinate, support, enable and track the implementation of key recovery actions and initiatives identified in the Action Plan. This position will seek to form a Recovery Team focused on delivery of actions within Australia with assistance from BirdLife’s Western Australia Bittern Coordinator.
What you need to know This is a part-time position 3-4 days per week (0.6-0.8 FTE) offered by negotiation on a 2-year max term contract up to March 2026, with possible extension subject to funding.
Hours are flexible with some weekend and evening work required.
This position reports to the Manager Wetland and Migratory Shorebirds.
Location This role can be based at the BirdLife Australia National Office in Carlton, Victoria, or interstate based in Eastern Australia (by negotiation). This position offers the flexibility to work from home when not conducting fieldwork or stakeholder engagement activities.
