Held over National Bird Week from 20-26 October, the Aussie Bird Count is Australia’s biggest citizen science event. Every year, tens of thousands of Australians of all ages and experiences join us in observing and counting the birds we live with. In 2024, over 57,000 participants counted a staggering 4.1million birds ‒ and you can help us make this year’s count our biggest yet!
To join the 2025 Aussie Bird Count, simply:
Each count takes just 20 minutes and can help BirdLife Australia track how our urban bird populations are faring – and just by counting, you’ll go into the running to win some incredible prizes!
By telling us about the birds you’ve seen within a 20-minute period, you can help BirdLife Australia develop an understanding of local birds while getting to know the wildlife on your doorstep.
