This is an exciting opportunity work with BirdLife Australia’s Migratory Shorebirds team. Amongst other duties to support migratory shorebird conservation in Australia, the role will coordinate key stakeholders across the country in the recovery of the Far Eastern Curlew. This role is aligned to BirdLife’s mission, vision and indicators under the Bird Conservation Strategy. Further information on the expectations of the role is set out in the position description.
To be successful in this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in biology or another relevant discipline, and at least three years’ experience working in the field of applied conservation. You will require strong knowledge of species recovery, management of threats and conservation solutions and technical expertise in species conservation. A significant asset for this role would be the knowledge of migratory shorebirds, the legislative agreements in place, and the stakeholders working across Australia, the Flyway and internationally to protect these birds.
What you need to know
This is a part-time role offered on a Maximum Term contract initially for 12 months. The location of this role is flexible. Applicants must possess corresponding work rights to be eligible for appointment and a current national police check (NPC) (or willingness to obtain). A Working with Children Check will also be required.
