Birdlife Bendigo-Echuca Monthly Outing – Mt Macedon Sunday 19th February 2026 – 8:00am
Join us for a bird outing to Mt Macedon, one of central Victoria’s most rewarding birding destinations. We’ll explore a mix of tall eucalypt forest, fern gullies and garden areas, keeping an eye out for a variety of woodland and forest species. With a bit of luck, we may encounter species such as Gang-gang Cockatoo, Crescent Honeyeater, Rufous Fantail and Olive Whistler, along with other seasonal visitors. This relaxed outing is suitable for all experience levels and offers a great opportunity to enjoy the cooler mountain environment, share knowledge, and connect with fellow birders.
What to bring: Comfortable walking or hiking shoes, water, a hat and sunscreen, binoculars and camera gear, plus morning tea or snacks to enjoy along the way.
Facilities: There are toilet facilities and possibly a food van while the cafe is being renovated.
Activities will be cancelled if, during the activity period; severe weather warnings are in place, temperatures over 35C or persistent rain is forecast, a Total Fire Ban has been declared or other safety issue is identified. Please check BirdLife Bendigo/Echuca District Facebook page on the evening before a walk, in case the event has been cancelled.
Outing Leader: Brian Bird
All are welcome!
We will meet at the Memorial Cross Reserve parking lot: Memorial Cross Loop Rd, Mt Macedon
If you’d prefer not to travel alone or would like to carpool, we’ll meet at the Bunnings Kangaroo Flat car park and depart promptly at 7:00 am. Participants can then travel together to Mt Macedon, either by following the group or by sharing a lift where space is available.
