Join BirdLife Mornington Peninsula and outing leader David Ap-Thomas (0429-939-036 only for use on day of outing) for a Sunday outing to the Western Treatment Plant, Werribee

To enter the Western Treatment Plant everyone must wear long pants, long sleeves and closed shoes.  You will need to bring your lunch, plenty of water to drink, sunscreen and a hat as you will be out in the sun a lot.  Insect repellant can be useful as can  a folding chair.  Approximate finish time is 3:00pm at Paradise Rd/Pt Wilson Rd.

Blue-winged Parrot

Attractive small parrot of southeastern Australia. Olive-green, with yellow belly and mostly dark blue wings. Face yellow between eye and bill, with small yellow triangle behind eyes and thin blue line between eyes. Feeds on the ground in open areas, including sporting grounds and farmland. Compare Rock Parrot (duller green, lacks the yellow on face, and only a thin blue edge to folded wing) and Elegant Parrot (yellower, no yellow patch behind eye). Call a very high, thin, chiming “zit zit.” (eBird)

Getting There

Meet at 7:00am at the Baxter Tavern car park, enter off Baxter-Tooradin Road, from where we will proceed in convoy. If travelling independently, meet at 9:00am at Paradise Road / Point Wilson Road corner.
