About our group

We organise at least one outing to an interesting birdwatching location in our region each month. We also hold meetings three or four times a year, where guest presenters give talks about all matters bird and conservation. Importantly, we also conduct vital conservation research across our region.

Get involved

BirdLife Shoalhaven has initiated a number of conservation projects, including:

• Bushfire Research Project, which monitors the impact of the 2019–20 fires and the slow recovery since.
• The South Coast Shorebird Recovery Program is dedicated to protecting the local beach nesting birds, particularly Little Terns and Hooded Plovers, watching over the shorebirds and helping protect their nests and chicks by installing fencing, signage and other protective measures.
• Save Our Glossies sees our members planting food trees and erecting nesting boxes to ensure the survival of local populations of Glossy Black-Cockatoos.
