BirdLife Yarra Valley provides local birdwatching activities in the Yarra Valley and surrounding areas, such as Lilydale, Healesville, Yarra Glen and Warburton.
The Yarra Valley is a diverse area full of wonderful places to go birdwatching, as the diverse habitats that are found in our region support an astounding array of native birds.
Many of our activities and outings take place among the magnificent tall forests of Yarra Ranges National Park. We are also fortunate to include Coranderrk Bushland, the Yarra River and many wonderful walking trails in our patch.
Special birds that share our environment include the Superb Lyrebird and its ‘companion’ Pilotbird, Large-billed Scrubwren, Grey Currawong, Pink Robin and Yellow-tufted Honeyeater.
BirdLife Yarra Valley holds bimonthly meetings on the second Wednesday of February, April, August and October in the Lilydale Community House at 7 Hardy St Lilydale, starting at 7:30 pm.
We also regularly hold outings on the second Saturday and fourth Wednesday of the month, though occasionally the date is changed, and outings are cancelled on days of Total Fire Ban. Our outings are generally within the Yarra Valley, though we occasionally venture further afield, including to north of the Great Divide, and the odd organised bus trip.
