The BirdLife WA Advocacy Committee is excited to launch its new, easy-to-use, two-page guide designed to help you speak up for our native birds.
Why does this matter? The choices we make about native vegetation directly impact bird habitats and the survival of threatened species. Across Western Australia, landscapes have been dramatically altered—once by land clearing in the southwest, and now by mining, renewable energy projects, wildfires, and a drying climate. Every patch of native vegetation plays a crucial role, and some areas are critical for species at risk.
The good news? You can make a difference. Birds need our voices. Whether it’s submitting feedback during a public consultation, challenging a decision, or writing to policymakers, your advocacy matters. We know navigating regulatory processes can be daunting—that’s why this new guide simplifies the steps, empowering you to take meaningful action. Whether you submit a single sentence expressing concern or a detailed response outlining the impact on birds, your input is valuable.
Every submission—no matter how brief—sends a powerful message: birds and their habitats matter. This guide is your first step in ensuring their voice is heard—through yours!
