How to register and book a site in Birdata

• Go to the Great Glossy Count event page and click ‘Register and book a site‘.

• Log in or sign up for a Birdata account.
  

• Click the ‘Register‘ button; read the text and then click the ‘Confirm‘ button.

• • You can cancel your registration at any time.
  • After registering, you will be able to view the booking map.

• Click the ‘Take Quiz‘ button.
  

• Correctly answer 16 or more questions to pass the quiz (you can take the quiz more than once). Passing the quiz will allow you to book a site.

If you have passed the quiz previously, you do not need to take the quiz again.

You can use our resources or see if there is a training workshop being held to learn more about Glossy Black-Cockatoos and safety in the field.

• Click the ‘View Booking Map‘ button, OR enter your group booking code and click the ‘Join Booking‘ button.

• Click a grid cell (i.e., survey site) to zoom into the surrounding area, or use the ‘+ -‘ buttons in the bottom right-hand corner to zoom in or out. You must click the’+’ symbol at least 6 times to see all grid cells.
  

• Click the grid cell you would like to book.
  

• • ‘Priority’ orange grid cells are suggested survey sites identified by BirdLife Australia and individual experts and organisations working to conserve Glossies, and are there to help guide you to surveying a suitable site. If you are aware of a suitable location not marked as ‘priority’, you are most welcome to survey that site instead.
  • We have done our best to identify suitable priority survey sites, but cannot guarantee that all sites that have been suggested are accessible or suitable. Please use your best judgement if surveying a site at a location you have not been to before.

• Select one of the green event dates you wish to book for (red and grey dates mean the site is unavailable to book on those dates).
  
  • Click the ‘Book Site‘ button.

• Check your details, and confirm you are physically and medically fit to participate. Once you are happy to proceed, click the ‘Confirm Booking‘ button.
  

   You will receive an email confirming your booking. This will include a booking code that you can share with friends so they can join your site.
