Are you looking to make a real impact, grow your skills, or share your expertise for a good cause? BirdLife WA is calling for volunteers from all walks of life to support our mission to protect and celebrate Western Australia’s incredible birdlife.

We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities. You don’t need to be a bird expert—just bring your interest, skills and enthusiasm!

Examples of Birdlife WA Volunteer Opportunities

  • Reception: Greet visitors, answer phones, handle merchandise sales, redirect enquiries
  • Office: proof-reading, printing, mail outs, coordinate bookings for meetings, events and equipment, manage basic accounts
  • Computer-based: formatting files, data entry, internet searches, digitising documents, bookings and calendar entries, uploading documents, emailing membership as needed.
  • Communications Support: social media & digital content
  • Advertising Sales Representative: looking after existing advertisers and identifying potential new clients.
  • Event Support: Help with event setup, catering, transporting merchandise to events, manning stalls, liaison with councils and community groups
  • Community Engagement: Give talks to schools or community groups, lead bird walks (bird knowledge helpful). Retired teachers welcome!
  • Preparation of BWA Bird Guides: gathering bird-related information in rural areas, proof reading and editing (knowledge of bird names required)
  • Advocacy: Assist with bird conservation submissions & grant writing
  • Wheatbelt Bird Surveys: Keen to get out in the bush? Join one of our exciting regional survey projects.
