Outing Overview

Birdlife Bendigo-Echuca Monthly Outing- Terrick Terrick National Park
Sunday 21st June. 2026, 9:30am

Join us for a day exploring the box–ironbark woodlands of Terrick Terrick National Park, one of northern Victoria’s most important conservation areas. Located between Mitiamo and Pyramid Hill, the park protects a diverse woodland habitat that supports a wide range of birdlife.

This outing provides an excellent opportunity to observe woodland species. Birds often recorded in these woodlands include parrots, honeyeaters, robins, and raptors. With some luck, we may encounter species such as the Hooded Robin, Red-capped Robin, Flame Robin, Diamond Firetail, and Australian Ringneck.

We will take a relaxed approach to birding, walking short distances through the woodland to explore different areas and habitats. The outing is suitable for birdwatchers of all experience levels and is a great opportunity to learn from others and share sightings.

What to bring/wear: Make sure to bring plenty of water and some snacks, along with your binoculars and camera gear. Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, long trousers, and sturdy closed shoes to keep safe from snakes. We will take a lunch break at the campground, bring a camp chair and something tasty for lunch.

Onsite Facilities: There is a camp toilet in the Campground. There are no food or drink facilities available within the park.

Cancellation Information for Outings

Activities will be cancelled if, during the activity period; severe weather warnings are in place, temperatures over 35C or persistent rain is forecast, a Total Fire Ban has been declared or other safety issue is identified. Please check BirdLife Bendigo/Echuca District Facebook page on the evening before a walk, in case the event has been cancelled.

All are welcome!

Getting there

Our meeting place is the entrance to the National Park on Cemetery Road at the intersection of Sylvaterre-Timms Lake Road. We may look to reduce the number of cars we have entering the park based on the number of people that attend the outing.
