The Richmond Woodlands KBA is located about 50 km north-west of central Sydney, close to the Hawkesbury River, on the edge of the Cumberland Plain and Blue Mountains.
This KBA provides a vital refuge for threatened woodland birds, including the Critically Endangered Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot. It is one of the largest remnants of woodland habitat that once covered much of western Sydney. Most of this habitat has been lost, making remnants like this very important for a diversity of plants and animals, including over 100 species of birds.
