Bird Walk – Saturday 2 March – Bald Hill Reserve, Kyneton
Our 2019 program continues next Saturday with a very special bird walk at Bald Hill Reserve, Kyneton, jointly led by Friends of Bald Hill Reserve and BirdLife Castlemaine District. The Reserve is a very beautiful and special place, with 3 distinct habitat types. The Friends group has achieved so much in helping the public appreciate its significance and, with Carolyn Robb from the Friends group bringing her incredible local knowledge, this is a walk not to be missed. All welcome!
Where: Bald Hill Reserve, Mount St Mary’s Lane, Kyneton, VIC. Approach Mount St Mary’s Lane from the south, off Pipers Creek Street – the Reserve is well signposted on your left.
When: Meet at Bald Hill Reserve at 8:30am, or to carpool from Castlemaine meet at 7:45am outside Castlemaine Community House (formerly Continuing Ed), Templeton Street.
Bring: Water, snacks, binoculars, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes. Long trousers are also advised during snake season.

Please note that walks will be cancelled if the temperature is forecast to be 35C or above during the walk period, and/or a Total Fire Ban has been declared.
February Walk Wrap-up
February’s walk took us to Warburtons Crossing for breakfast with the birds! Sightings included Diamond Firetails, Brown Treecreepers, Juvenile/immature Oriole, Superb Fairy Wren and Dusky Wood Swallow. Thanks to everyone who came along and to Jane Rusden for leading.
