An in-memoriam donation of $5000 managed by BirdLife Northern NSW, funded the entire installation of a Osprey nest platform at Riverview Park, Ballina, as well as the cost of the crane hire for a second platform at Kingsford-Smith Oval, also at Ballina.
The work was carried out in cooperation with the Ballina Council, who will be replacing another three platforms, with two more to come after the breeding season.
The Ospreys were quick to utilise the new platform at Kingsford-Smith Oval, and were seen taking nesting material to it the following morning.
