Australia’s most comprehensive bird resource
If you want to know more about our native birds, find out how to how to become more involved, or help us create the best possible future for Australia’s birds and their habitats, you’re in the right place.
This is where the BirdLife Australia community virtually comes together -- where we can connect and add our voices. This is where you’ll find answers to “What bird is that?” or “Where is it found?” or “How can I find out more about the birds around me?”
Think of this as your gateway to the world of Australian birds. It’s part encyclopaedia, part gallery, part database and all dedicated to one task: preserving the knowledge we have and growing it for the future. So our birds can benefit.
As an organisation, BirdLife Australia has a proud history and an impressive list of achievement. We have been advocating for our native birds and the conservation of their habitats for over a century. Every year, we undertake more cutting-edge projects and collect vital information.
As Australia's foremost bird conservation organisation, we have extensive databases from past and ongoing projects, bird atlases, education resources, information sheets and threatened bird lists, all readily available. We even have our own library, the H.L. White Library, named after one of the most influential people in Australian ornithology and a founding member of our organisation.
