Birds & Beans Social Bird Walk – Riley Street Nature Reserve, East Bendigo Tuesday 4th August 2026 9:00am
Discover the unique habitats of Riley Street Nature Reserve in East Bendigo on this month’s Birds and Beans outing. Once a former quarry site, the reserve has been transformed into an important urban natural area, now supporting a diverse range of wildlife including threatened fish species, frogs, reptiles, mammals and an impressive variety of birdlife.
The reserve features a network of walking tracks winding through wetlands, open water, regenerating woodland and native vegetation, creating excellent opportunities for both birdwatching and general nature observation. Its combination of aquatic and bush habitats attracts a wide range of species throughout the year.
This outing offers a relaxed opportunity to enjoy nature, improve your birdwatching skills and connect with fellow bird enthusiasts. The walk will be conducted at an easy pace and is suitable for all experience levels.

What to bring/wear: Make sure to bring plenty of water, along with your binoculars and camera gear. Don’t forget sunscreen, a hat, long trousers, and sturdy closed shoes.
Onsite Facilities: There are toilet facilities near-by. We will be visiting the Bridgewater Bakehouse for coffee and sweets at the end of our walk.
Cancellation Information for Outings: Activities will be cancelled if, during the activity period; severe weather warnings are in place, temperatures over 35C or persistent rain is forecast, a Total Fire Ban has been declared or other safety issue is identified. Please check BirdLife Bendigo/Echuca District Facebook page or this webpage on the evening before a walk, in case the event has been cancelled.
