Event organised by GOOD (Growing Older Out Doors) – Active Ageing and Environmental Volunteering
BirdLife Western Australia, part of BirdLife Australia, is a not-for-profit organisation that benefits greatly from work carried out by volunteer citizen scientists who are mostly retired and are spending a lot of time and resources working on conservation programs and assisting the organisation. As part of our research into the benefits of environmental volunteering and aging, we interviewed these volunteers to learn where their passion comes from and what their interpretation is of what environmental volunteering looks like, and what benefits it generates for them and for the organisation. Part of the research was a photovoice component where the volunteers took pictures of prompts to do with their environmental volunteering experience. The resulting pictures were amazing and hold deep meaning to our volunteers, which is why we wanted to share these through an exhibition on Volunteerweek WA.
The event comprises of:
1) an exhibition of the Growing Older Out Doors ‘Photovoice’ in Bold Park.
2) a bird walk and a wild flower walk in Bold Park
